Outcomes
Graduates with a MEng in Biomedical Systems will be able to:
- apply the basic principles of human physiology to system design
- apply the principles of material science for medical device design and implementation
- apply human factors and ergonomic considerations to medical system design
- analyze medical devices in the context of a usability process, economic consideration, and risk management
- use the regulatory process and pathways to develop medical device
- design medical devices for use by healthcare professionals and the health industry
- use current innovative technology and techniques in the biomedical device industry

Your undergraduate degree must be in engineering or applied science. If you have another type of degree or diploma combined with relevant industrial experience, you may be considered.
As part of your application, you must submit:
- two assessment reports from professional or academic contacts
- we recommend that your referees attach a reference letter to the assessment report
- reference letters must be on official letterhead and signed by the referee
- official transcripts
- official confirmation of degree(s)
- a one-page letter of intent explaining your career goals and highlighting your strengths and achievements
- résumé

Funding & aid
The MEng in Biomedical Systems program is self-funded, and students must secure their own funding before beginning their studies. Students may be eligible for awards or bursaries.
You can also join the co-op program with permission from the program director and the associate director for co-op, or work as a teaching assistant.
