Building Envelopes and Structures (MEng)
The first of its kind in North America, the Master of Engineering in Building Envelopes and Structures (BEST) program combines state-of-the-art research and industry applications. As a graduate, you'll be equipped with the knowledge and expertise to lead in the evolving fields of sustainable construction and advanced engineering solutions.
You'll complete course work and a graduate project on building envelopes and/or structures. You'll also have the option to complete an 8-month co-op placement.
Note: This is a project-based program; there is no thesis.

Outcomes
Graduates with an MEng in Building Envelopes and Structures (BEST) will be able to:
- design advanced building envelopes with a focus on energy efficiency and climate resilience
- apply structural engineering principles to optimize the use of steel, timber and concrete materials
- analyze the performance of building systems in response to environmental conditions
- lead projects addressing climate change mitigation and sustainable construction practices
- engage with industry and communities to promote innovative, sustainable building solutions

Program-specific requirements
Most of our students hold an undergraduate degree in engineering. However, you may also be eligible with a background in science, geography, environmental studies, business or economics. We require strong math and calculus skills.
As part of your application, you must also submit:
- a letter of intent
- curriculum vitae
- at least one assessment report from academic or professional references
- post-secondary transcripts
- other supporting documents are optional
