Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LATHE)
The Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LATHE) graduate certificate is designed for doctoral students who plan to pursue a career teaching adults.
You’ll complete courses, workshops and guided experience and will gain an understanding of current research, paradigms, and approaches to teaching. Your training in LATHE will make you a more effective and employable instructor.
The LATHE program is usually taken in conjunction with your doctoral studies. Applicants must be UVic students.

Admission requirements
You are eligible for the LATHE program if you:
- are a registered PhD student at the University of Victoria
- possess a GPA of 6 (B+ average) or higher in your aster's degree
- meet the EPLS requirements for English language proficiency
Program specific requirements
- Two satisfactory assessment reports
