Borders in Globalization
Stephanie Gruhlke was the Program Manager for the here at the Centre for Global Studies. She managed the 21st Century Borders SSHRC Partnership Grant, the Jean Monnet Borders, Human-to-Military Security Database Network, and she was the co-Managing Editor for BIG’s peer-reviewed open-access journal, . Stephanie also supported or assisted with a number of other EU grants at the centre.
In 2021, Stephanie completed her MA through the Department of Political Science at UVic. Her thesis, “Controlling Borders & Securing the State” provided an interpretative policy analysis of international human sex trafficking policy. During her MA studies she held RA positions on various projects relating to sex trafficking, international law, and/or international governance. She also holds a BA with a double major in History and Political Studies from the University of Alberta Augustana Campus.
Stephanie has been involved with the Centre for Global Studies in a variety of capacities since 2018. She began as a workstudy student in January 2018, then worked with the centre as an Events & Communications Assistant before transitioning in September 2018 to a permanent position as the Events & Administrative Assistant. In this role, she was responsible for or organizing the Global Talks series, assisting with our public events, maintaining an administrative presence at the front office, and working with our workstudy students to maintain our website and compile the weekly newsletter.
