DECODE Coordinator
UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education
Rowan Salverda is the new Coordinator of the DECODE Project with the UNESCO Chair in Community-Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education. Her research interests include language learning, language revitalization, memory politics and community-based research. Rowan is an aspiring polyglot who currently speaks English, Dutch and French fluently, has a certificate in Spanish language and culture and is also learning other languages including Catalan, Portuguese and Indonesian.
Rowan first worked at the Centre for Global Studies (CFGS) from 2020 to 2023 as a Communications Assistant/Workstudy student. She also worked as a Research Assistant for the Borders in Globalization (BIG) project in 2022. Rowan is currently also working as an Administrative and Communications Assistant at the University of Victoria’s new School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures (SLLC).
