Fares received the B.Eng degree in Mechatronics from the University of Carthage (UCar), Carthage, Tunisia in 2013, and received the MSc degree in Automatic Control & Signal Processing from the University of Tunis El Manar (UTM), Tunis, Tunisia in 2014. He also received the Ph.D. degree in Engineering Control, Automation and Robotics from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Bilbao, Spain and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from UTM in 2018 in a cotutelle framework.
He was a postdoctoral Researcher with Laboratoire des Systemes Electriques (LSE) at UTM, Tunisia, from 2018 to 2019. Then joined the Automatic Control Group (ACG) at UPV/EHU, Bilbao, Spain as a Postdoctoral Researcher from 2019-2024. He recently obtained the prestigious Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) grant for a Global Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Victoria (UVic), British Columbia, Canada.
His current research interests include renewable energy applications, Mechatronics, adaptive control, intelligent control design, and applied control of dynamic systems, applied to wave energy converters and offshore energy systems.
In his free time Fares likes to spend time with family and friends as well as cooking and traveling.
