Tips for Success

One tip that I would offer new international students starting their program at UVic is... Embrace this moment of transformation and enjoy discovering this updated version of yourself! Starting university is like starting a new life – new experiences, new friendships, new foods, new hobbies

One of the best ways for international students to get connected during their time at UVic would be… Check out the cool events organized by the UVic Global Community! This is a great starting point for you to connect with other students, learn about UVic and living in Victoria. Join clubs and connect with campus resources. Be out of your comfort zone and talk to new people. Grades are important but what will remain in your heart is the great moments you’ve lived through and the unique people you’ve met.

Student Success Tip: Learn about the resources that UVic has for you as they will make great impact in the way you study, the energy you spend on every assignment and your overall well-being. Organize your schedule and stick to it as that will save you from many headaches!

About

I am originally from Peru, South America. I have a bachelor’s degree in Education, a master’s degree in Performing Arts and a diploma in Community, Family and Child Studies. I’ve been in the educational field for over 15 years in different roles. I am passionate about experiential learning, and I think that travelling is a unique learning experience.

I love the work we do at the International Centre for Students. My passion in supporting international students comes from my personal experience as a former international student.

Interests

Travelling, performing arts, improvisational theatre, learning languages, community building, interpersonal skills and education. I am always looking for new coffee shops!

Fun fact

I am half Indian and half Peruvian, so don’t hesitate to say “hola” or “kaise ho” if you see me around campus :)
