Pre-arrival checklist

There's a lot to think about when you move to a new country. Here are some things you'll want to consider as you get ready to come to Canada.

1. Study permits and work eligibility

You should apply for a study permit as soon as you receive your admission email and letter of acceptance from UVic.

  • NEW: As of November 8, 2024, if you already have a valid study permit for another institution in Canada, you must  before starting your studies at UVic. If you meet certain criteria established by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), you may be eligible to start your studies at UVic while you await processing of your extension application.
