JD Indigenous Category

In this webinar you will learn about our Indigenous applicant category, our application review process, and a general overview of what UVic Law has to offer to Indigenous students.  Hear from Darcy Lindberg whose research areas include Indigenous law, ecological governance through Indigenous legal orders, gender and Indigenous ceremonies, and Indigenous treaty making.

JD/JID (Indigenous law) Program

In this webinar you will learn about our Joint Degree Program in Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JD/JID).  Why is this program important for the future of our local, national and international communities? We will give you a general overview of the program and you'll hear from Val Napoleon, Director, JD/JID program and Law Foundation Chair of Indigenous Justice and Governance.

Amicus: Latin for Friendship – Let’s Talk Student Support

In this webinar, you will learn about our Amicus Program. It is a unique UVic Law student support initiative that plays an active role in engaging, advising and supporting students during their law school journey. There are four overlapping components in the program: academic success, cultural support, personal support and accommodation support. These components work in conjunction and collaboration with each other to ensure your overall success in law school. Hear from the support program staff who each specialize in their particular area of student support and from upper year law students who provide tutoring services. We will provide answers to common questions as well as those you anonymously submit.

JD Discretionary Category

The Discretionary category is available to applicants whose academic achievements and/or LSAT score have been significantly delayed, interrupted or adversely affected by:

• a medical condition or disability (physical, sensory, learning, addiction, mental illness, or similar condition or disability);
• family or similar responsibilities and the consequent need to attend to these responsibilities or to maintain employment; or
• social, historic, political, economic or other factors.

In this webinar, you will learn about our Discretionary applicant category, application review process for discretionary candidates, and a general overview of what UVic Law has to offer Discretionary students.  Hear from Professor Andrew Newcombe, Associate Dean, Academic & Student Relations; Laura Johnston, a lawyer and Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia Allard Law and the University of Victoria, Faculty of Law, in addition to other representatives of UVic Law.
