Appointment of the Vice-President Indigenous

Qwul’sih’yah’maht, Robina Thomas will be retiring from her role as Vice-President Indigenous at the end of her term in December 2025. On behalf of the university community and the leadership team, I would like to recognize Robina’s dedicated work and acknowledge her commitment to the university. Robina’s deep knowledge, experience, and community connections have been instrumental in advancing the UVic values and principles of ensuring truth, respect and reconciliation. Through her work, she has taught so many of us the value of working with a good mind and a good heart here in lək̓ʷəŋən territory. I offer my immense gratitude for her important role in preparing us for the work to come.

SEARCH PROCESS

Earlier this month the Appointment Committee for the Vice-President Indigenous began meeting. The first tasks for the committee are to familiarize themselves with the requirements of the position and develop candidate criteria to inform the search.

Input on the role of VP Indigenous and desirable candidate attributes is being collected through a , open until May 16, 2025.
