How to apply
The International Summer Institute for Business Management (ISIBM) is open to all undergraduate students. At the time of application, each student must be currently enrolled in a university/college that is officially recognized by the national government agency for education within their respective country.
English requirements
ISIBM students are recommended to have at least an intermediate level of English which is the equivalent of IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 45. We do not require a language certificate. If you are not sure of your English level, please contact us for more information.
Credits
Before you register for ISIBM, you should speak with a representative from your respective faculty or registrar’s office to ensure that your home institution will recognize the ISIBM program for transfer credit. After completing the program, you will receive a letter of completion and an official academic record of grades from the University of Victoria and the Gustavson School of Business to give to your home school representative. Securing credit at your home institution is your responsibility.
Visa requirements
Under Canadian law, you do not need a student visa (study permit) to attend.
You will need to:
- receive a letter of acceptance from the University of Victoria and a receipt for your tuition deposit before leaving your home country
- pay the full tuition fees by bank transfer in order to receive a letter of acceptance/invitation
- receive an electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada from
Some countries will also require you to obtain a temporary resident visa in order to enter Canada for the term of study. Students from those countries need to apply a minimum of 2 months before the start of the program. Visa processing times can vary by country so apply early.
If you plan to travel to the United States while you are in Canada, ensure that you discuss this with your local immigration office to see if any additional paperwork is required before entering the USA.
Travel arrangements
Victoria is located on Vancouver Island, Canada and north of Seattle, USA. Make sure you/your travel agent knows that your final destination is Victoria and not Vancouver. Students who arrive in Vancouver will have to find their own transportation to Vancouver Island and the university.
